How will the system hold up in a hurricane?
The mounting hardware can be designed to withstand 150 mph winds. The panels are designed for 135 mph winds.
Will my system work during a power outage?
The standard system has a grid tie inverter. If the power goes out, the inverter shuts down, preventing any power from back feeding into the grid. Any one working on the power line will not get shocked by the power coming from the array.
How long will my panels last?
Solar panels have a 25 year warranty and will produce energy for 30-40 years.
What Kind of maintenance is required?
Dust on the panels may cause a small loss in efficiency. The panels may need to be hosed down if it has not rained for a long time. Otherwise, the maintenance is minimal.
What type of roof is required?
Photovoltaic panels can be installed on shingle, metal and tile roofs.
