As we celebrate Tri County Air’s 40th anniversary, Billy Swanson, current president of Tri County Air, brings us back to 1977 when his father, William Swanson Sr., founded Tri County Air Conditioning & Heating. William Sr. originally crafted the business to service mobile home new construction markets and even installed the air conditioning systems for Southwest Florida’s popular manufactured home communities when they were developed – such as, Maple Leaf, Veranda Springs, La Casa, Harbor Isles, Bay Indies, Spanish Lakes, and Lake Village.

In 1987, Billy Swanson, who at the time worked as an engineer in Gainesville, received a call from his father asking him to come down to Venice join him in running the business. Seeing it as a great opportunity to spend quality time with his dad, Billy jumped at the chance on July 5th to move down and start working for Tri County Air. It was at that time that Billy started working to expand the business of Tri County Air to serve the residential new construction market.

Fast forward to 2017, Tri County Air has the honor of having over 100 employees who are focused on residential repair, service, and change-outs. Tri County Air’s goal is to comfort the person. Billy says, “I like to do business with people – a handshake. I want to make you comfortable. That’s why we exist.” Ever since founding Tri County Air in 1977, William Sr. often would recite, “No matter what the weather is outside, Tri County makes you feel good inside” which transformed into the jingle Tri County Air is well known for today: “No matter what the weather, Tri County makes it better!”

True care and comfort is woven into the DNA of everything Tri County Air does, it is our foundation. The goal has been, and always will be, to comfort the person. Our mission statement puts it plainly, we are here “to comfort ALL in such a way that they are compelled to tell others about their experience and it honors the Great Comforter, Jesus Christ.”
