Ductless air conditioners and/or heat pumps are a more efficient way to heat and cool your home. These systems do not have any ductwork and are able to set custom temperatures in each room. In other words, you can choose to cool your bedroom to 72 degrees at night without having to cool your entire home.
There are a lot of options of manufacturers in the marketplace for ductless air conditioning and heating systems. The number is around 34 and growing! The four most common manufacturers are: Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, and LG. Here at Tri County Air, we have found that the best all-around in quality, support, and performance are Mitsubishi and Daikin.
Mitsubishi and Daikin have both been long-lasting pioneers in inverter technology. Mitsubishi has the best selling mini-split system in the USA and Daikin is the world’s largest HVAC manufacturer. Both manufacturers have ductless mini-split systems that hold up very well in hot and cold environments and have the highest cooling efficiency rating (23 SEER). However, Mitsubishi has the best heating performance providing heat at -15 degrees Fahrenheit. Even though you probably won’t need to utilize that kind of heating capacity in SW Florida, it is good to know.
When it comes to warranties, the majority of Daikin ductless systems will come with a 12-year parts warranty with the exception of the 17 Series, which comes with a 10-year parts warranty. A 12-year factory backed extended labor warranty is also available. Mitsubishi, on the other hand, will come with a 5-year parts and 7-year compressor warranty. However, systems installed by a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor will have a 12 years parts & compressor warranty. Yes, we are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor.
