What is the best A/C system for manufactured homes?
That is a tough question to answer. To be honest, rarely will a contractor be able to install a new A/C and duct system to the A/C manufacturer specifications.
A vast majority of the manufactured homes in SW Florida don’t have enough room under the home to accommodate the larger ducts required to meet A/C manufacturer specifications. Manufacturers design their equipment to operate with a low resistance on the air being moved and undersized ducts create more resistance than the HVAC system is manufactured to handle. As the equipment sees the resistance of an undersized duct system, the performance and efficiency will decrease. This is why it is so important to have correctly sized ducts under the manufactured home. If a technician or Comfort Advisor is ever at your manufactured home and is recommending larger main ducts under the home, it is because he/she has the training to know what will happen if the ducts are undersized.
